Family Time
For kids young and old, there is plenty to try on and around the Great Ocean Road whether it’s learning something new, going on an adventure, tiring the kids out on a hike or just some good old fish and chips on the beach.

Foreshore Playground
The main playground in Apollo Bay is located right on the Main Street with the beach, skate park & shops all within 100m in each direction. Is a great park for all ages. The skate park is large but very popular & is not 50m away at most so kids can be supervised using both at the same time. Loads of chairs & tables, BBQ’s, toilets, drink taps on site & grass area to run around on.
Mothers Beach
Really, there is nothing better than taking your kids to the beach. The spot where Apollo Bay's main beach hits the rock wall is a popular spot for young families. It's a sheltered spot, there are toilets nearby and it is a relatively safe spot to swim. The wall is also a popular spot to learn how to surf. The Fish Co-op is around the corner, so it's a perfect spot for fish & chips on the beach!

Maits Rest
Maits Rest is suitable for all ages and abilities as you take the winding boardwalk through centuries-old trees and stunning fern gardens. Not only does the boardwalk protect the fragile ecosystem of the area but offers unique views across the forest. If you’re lucky, you may make a few friends on route as koalas, swamp wallabies, possums and kangaroos are common in the area. Maits Rest is a 20-minute drive from Apollo Bay, and at only 800m (around 30 minutes return) it is ideal for little ones and grown-ups alike.

Apollo Bay Aquatic Centre
When in the Otways with your kids, your priorities are probably to immerse yourself in nature, get koala counting, see some waterfalls and the like. But sometimes, you just want a warm, lovely pool! And since a year, Apollo Bay has that pool. It's an absolute blessing for families with young kids, that have very little options in a small town on rainy days. The pool is notorious for being extremely hot (around 30 degrees) so it's a good place spend some quality time with your kids on a rainy day.
